Jean-Francois Lyotard died April 21 1998. I believe this interview was conducted a couple of years before his death. At the time of the interview, conducted at my then-house on the edge of Candler Park in Atlanta GA. Lyotard was at that time teaching at Emory University. The date is memorable also because of the disparaging remarks he made about the passé nature of surrealism (which the house surely was, that is, both passe and surreal. Present at the interview was John Johnston, Susanne Guerlac, Chea Prince, and Robert Cheatham. The wacked out introduction was done by Rob so blame him..as well as the design which has been kept.
